ELPAC Skill Focus: Task Type 2 – Opinion Writing
When you justify an opinion, you are stating what you believe and explaining why. You must:
Give a clear opinion or position
Provide at least two reasons to support your opinion
Use examples, explanations, or facts
Write in a way that is organized and convincing
Read the question or topic carefully. Decide what you believe.
State your opinion clearly in the first sentence.
Give at least two reasons to support your opinion.
Use transitions to connect ideas.
Finish with a conclusion or restatement of your opinion.
