What You Need to Do

When you justify an opinion, you are stating what you believe and explaining why. You must:

• Give a clear opinion or position

• Provide at least two reasons to support your opinion

• Use examples, explanations, or facts

• Write in a way that is organized and convincing

Steps for Success

1. Read the question or topic carefully. Decide what you believe.

2. State your opinion clearly in the first sentence.

3. Give at least two reasons to support your opinion.

4. Use transitions to connect ideas.

5. Finish with a conclusion or restatement of your opinion.
