As we bring this course to a close, Unit 10 offers space to breathe, reflect, and connect beyond grades or formal assessments. The title, drawn from Pink Floyd’s Echoes and the haunting symbolism of Coleridge’s Albatross, invites us to consider what lingers after argument, analysis, and debate—the quiet echoes of personal growth, new perspectives, and unfinished questions.
This unit is intentionally ungraded. Final grades will have already been submitted by the time we begin, creating a space free from academic pressure. Instead, students will engage with reflective poetry, music, and personal expression to explore how their thinking, beliefs, and voices have evolved over the semester. This is not about "proving" learning—it's about honoring the process, sharing insights, and leaving space for creativity, vulnerability, and celebration.
No Grades. This is your space to express, share, and create without the pressure of evaluation.
We will explore music, poetry, and open-ended reflection to close our time together.
You’ll have freedom to choose your final creative expression and how you share it with the class.
The goal: Connection, reflection, and honoring the growth that doesn't always fit on a rubric.
Open-Ended Creative Assignment (Chosen from Creative Writing Course Catalog)
Options include poetry, flash memoir, spoken word, creative nonfiction, visual art with written reflection, or hybrid forms. This is your space to express how the course, or your own growth, has left an "echo."
"Show and Tell" Style Final Presentation
A low-stress, community-centered moment to share your creative work, favorite insight, or final reflection with the class. Participation is about showing up authentically, not performing perfectly.
"Echoes" — Pink Floyd (Listening & Lyric Study)
A sprawling, atmospheric track that invites reflection on time, memory, and human connection.
